At a ceremony held at the Austrian Federal Ministry of Women, Science and Research Eva Werner, President of AQ Austria and a long-standing advocate of internationalisation in the Austrian higher education sector, was awarded the professional title of ‘Professor’. The Austrian Federal Minister Eva-Maria Holzleitner presented Eva Werner with the honour awarded by the Austrian Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen.
Eva Werner is one of the most influential figures in Austrian higher education: as long-standing rector of the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems she played an active part in establishing the universities of applied sciences in Austria and provided key impetus for the national and international orientation of these institutions. Beyond her official role she has been and continues to be active in numerous initiatives, e.g. curriculum development, internationalisation and inter-university cooperation.
Since the beginning of the year she has been the president of AQ Austria where she is responsible for the quality assurance agency and is strongly committed to innovation, dialogue and sustainable quality in tertiary education.
The professional title of ‘Professor’ is awarded in recognition of special services to education, science and research. With this award the Republic of Austria honours Eva Werner's outstanding contribution to Austrian higher education.
